6th October 2011
During the summer, I went to London to undertake training in Social Return On Investment, delivered by the SROI Network. It was excellent: two intense days of learning and doing during which I grappled with concepts and methodologies that on the one hand made complete sense, and on the other hand felt complex and alien at times. A walk in the park it was not, but I firmly believe it was well worth the time and money spent.
Gauge, a Belfast-based social enterprise, is now delivering SROI training in Ireland on 18 and 19 October. These are the details:
DAY 1 - How to do a SROI analysis (10.30 - 16.30)
Day one is a practical, step-by-step introduction to the SROI process. We’ll begin with some theory but the process is best learnt by trying it, so candidates will learn how to develop an impact map – the heart of the SROI process – and explore appropriate real life examples.
DAY 2 - SROI Practitioner training (9.30 - 16.00)
Day two covers, in more depth, issues that practitioners will need to demonstrate an understanding of if they wish to become accredited. Although designed with the assurance process in mind, this course is suitable for anyone wanting more than just an introduction to SROI. Current issues will be discussed, best practice and techniques shared and lots of examples explored.
The SROI Network training course has been accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management. It will be delivered by accredited SROI Practitioners that are also experienced trainers. Attendance on both days is required in order to become a accredited Practitioner. The cost for two days training is £650/€750 (+ VAT @ 20%), which includes ILM accreditation, training materials and refreshments. Invoices payable in advance of training. Bookings may be made through Jo Doney on +44 (0)28 9023 4414 or info@gaugeireland.ie. Venue: Ardee Business Park, Hale Street, Ardee, Co. Louth, Republic of Ireland.
Where next for me and SROI? I now need to undertake my first SROI analysis and submit this to the SROI Network for assurance in the hope that I might become an Accredited Practitioner. I am actively looking for an organisation in Ireland who will want to work with me on this during 2012 (further details available on request).
