Charities legislation for Northern Ireland

It has just been announced that Northern Ireland will benefit from new charities regulation.  Read all about it here.  Which has gotten me wondering about the current state of play regarding a charities regulator here in the Republic.  It'll be interesting to see what level of priority the incoming government grants it.  I am not holding my breath.
